Why would I take this test?
Genomics is the cutting-edge science that explores your genes. A saliva sample gives detailed information on the genetic factors that affect how your body responds to different diseases, such as diabetes or thyroid conditions.
This test is useful as a diagnostic tool, as it looks at over 25 genes that support the nervous system including serotonin and dopamine pathways, inflammation and drug response. Genomics allows medication to be tailored to your body’s needs.
How a test is done?
Also known as spit tests, these are very simple, non-invasive procedures. You’ll be given a small tube into which you need to ‘spit’ until it reaches a mark, and that’s it. You’ll be asked to wash your hands before handling the tube.
Fasting and special measures are required
For 30 minutes before taking the test, you must not:
eat anything
drink
chew gum
smoke
brush your teeth or use mouthwash
You should drink some water an hour so before the test, so you are hydrated.
You can continue to take regular medication but check with your doctor whether any of your medications may affect test results
Consent
Complete the consent form and personal information that goes with the test.
Can I have someone with me?
Of course, if that makes you more comfortable, you may have a friend or relative accompany you during a test.
When will I get my results?
Results returned in 2 to 4 weeks
What can this test detect?
You’ll receive a 40 page plus report specific to you. It will examine the interactions between genes, nutrients, pharmaceutical drugs, lifestyle and environmental factors under the following headings:

How do I get my results?
The certified laboratory report is emailed to us, and we can either:
email directly to you
email directly to you and/or to your GP. We will need your written consent to share any test results, but we will discuss this with you when you book your appointment
give it to you in person at the clinic
